Types of Funding: Research grants to increase understanding of the causes of suicide and and factors related to suicide risk, or to test treatments and interventions intended to prevent suicide. Amount ranges from $30,000 to $100,000, depending on level of the researcher and the funded research time.
Mary Byron Project, Deadline Nov. 14
Supports innovative programs that demonstrate promise in breaking the cycle of domestic violence. The grant maker seeks pioneering programs that can serve as models for the nation.

Government Funding
Dept. of Health & Human Services, Health Resources & Services Admin., Deadline: Oct. 15
Program: Healthy Tomorrows Partnership for Children Program (CFDA Number 93.110) (Funding Opportunity Number HRSA-11-029).
Who Can Apply: Any public or private entity is eligible to apply. These include healthcare facilities, Indian tribes and organizations and faith-based organizations.
Funding: $400,000 for eight awards. Grant recipients must contribute non-Federal matching funds in years two through five of the project period equal to two times the amount of the federal grant award (i.e., if the federal grant award is for $50,000, then the matching requirement is $100,000, which can include in-kind contributions).
Goals:
1. Support development of family-centered, culturally competent, community-based initiatives that plan and implement innovative and cost-effective approaches for focusing resources on preventive health and developmental objectives for vulnerable children, adolescents and their families, especially those with limited access to quality health services.
2. Foster collaboration among community organizations, individuals, agencies, businesses and families to achieve those objectives.
3. Involve pediatricians and other pediatric health professionals in community-based service programs.
4. Build community and statewide partnerships among professionals in health, education, social services, government and business to achieve self-sustaining programs to assure healthy children, adolescents and families.
